Fatty Crab is one spot I’ve heard quite a lot about but have yet to experience. On my recent trip to NYC I had a chance to partake with fellow foodie and friend Chef Joey. With the chilly NYC weather outside the started drink of choice was the Rum Hot Toddy, which came in one of the most interesting tea cups I’ve ever seen.

The foodie in me loves when friends refer me to places they deem top notch. Last night while on my born day food crawl my friend had us venture to Red Rooster in Harlem, headed by Top Chef Master Marcus Samuelsson. I’ll be the first to say I’m not a big fan of comfort soul food, but the dishes we tasted this night were quite delish. The night began with their version of a ‘Gin & Juice’. The West Coast side of me was like man whatever’ when I saw it on the menu, but after one sip 3 more were ordered. As my friend pointed out, them seem to get better each time (personally I think that’s with any Gin based cocktail). Check out the rest of my Red Rooster experience after the jump
Walking into this place I felt like I was walking into the real history of New York City. Raoul’s is the kind of bistro that feels sexy, dark, quaint, and very old school French. Then come to find out this place has been around since the 70′s, the nostalgic geek in me perked right up. A good buddy of mine referred me to the locale as I was on a serious hunt to find Lobster Bisque. Mind you, that’s all I wanted was a bowl of bisque but one glance over the menu my taste buds yearned for more.
Gather round kiddies as I has a story to tell you about my introduction to one Miss Michelle Ten. It happened upon one magical night during a Diane Von Furstenburg party in New York City. Me with drink in hand mixing & networking with fashion’s most elite, I was stopped dead in my tracks when this Puerto Rican beauty stepped on the scene. Ferosh style that gives the gods all they can handle for a lifetime was how she choose to let the room have it. Little did we know it would be a custom made bag baring her name that would break the ice between I.AM.CJay and Michelle Ten, leading to a friendship that has taken us to a 10 year anniversary today.
Michelle is about a grind like no other fashionista I’ve met all my years in NYC. I can speak from 1st hand experience as I took the role as her driver one day while she was out pulling for a client. It literally took all day, but to witness her in action took my awe for her to a new level. Respected by the most jaded women in NYC for her fashion sense and loved by the men for her cool laid back demeanor. Now with her at the forefront of her own agency Agent 10, Miss Ten is sharing the wealth and guiding the careers of some of the industry’s most talked about fresh talent. Now take that to the bank and cash it…Goodnight.

I don’t know about you, but my holidays are filled with booze, flashing lights, and good times. So far this holiday season I’ve ventured out to Disneyland (the best way to start off your holiday season), a week in NYC, and gearing up for an annual holiday party in L.A. this weekend. more »
Gettin’ all nostalgic thinking about New York City today. Had to pull up a flick of one of the best nights last year in NYC at my trainer Dan’s (in the red shirt) crib. His family has become my adopted NYC family. Talk about some good ole fashion ignorant fun filled with Patron XO, Corona’s, Pernil, and music! NYC here I come….WEPA!!
That dark liquor is the devil I tell you! Especially when you gettin turnt up midtown and you live in Brooklyn!
